International Wine Challenge 2019 – Our Medal-Winning Wines

21 May 2019

Written by James Goodacre

Each year a number of our wines are submitted to the International Wine Challenge, London. This is arguably one of the biggest and most influential wine competitions in the world. It’s the Oscars of the wine world!

Over 10,000 wines are submitted each year and tasted in categories. The judges do not know what the wine is, except grape variety and wine region. They do not know the winemaker or the price.

To win one of these awards means that the wine stands out from the crowd as being something special … a wine with personality and flavour.

We are delighted to announce that a number of our wines have won prestigious Silver and Bronze Medals this year. Seven out of the eleven wines are exclusively made for us.

Time for Wine’s Andrew Bennett DipWSET has been a Senior Judge at the International Wine Challenge for over 14 years.

It is always a great privilege to attend the annual judging in London. It’s a great way of connecting with the wine industry, catching up with fellow judges, winemakers, journalists and wine professionals from all over the world. Every year I get to taste hundreds of wines (blind) from across the globe; some good, some bad, some magnificent … all in the presence of passionate and talented fellow judges. It’s a great way to sharpen your palate and get a feel for the trends in the wine world.

The commendations, medals and trophies awarded to the best wines really are a great way of showing the consumer that ‘herein lies some very lovely wine. Buy with confidence and enjoy!’

I am so pleased that the wines from 3D always do very well and are a testament to the superb talent and craft of our family of winemakers. Long may that continue.’
